Viz Secure is a software system designed to monitor, audit, and help maintain Vizrt systems of any complexity and to improve on-air performance.
A continuous health check
Viz Secure continuously checks the health of all components of your Viz systems – hardware, databases and application software. Uniquely, Viz Secure monitors the internals of the Vizrt environment such as on-air/off-air, texture memory usage and frame render speed.
Real-time monitoring and exception reporting at a component level
By monitoring individual system components Viz Secure enables better diagnosis and quicker, more effective action from the engineering team. By monitoring the internals of the Vizrt application performance Viz Secure can highlight potential problems before they impact on-air performance.
Range of alarm and notification options
Upon detection of a component failure a rule set determines the action to be taken which can range from a state change in a dynamic display to text messages, audible alarms, and emails. Standard reports include time-to-fix, issues by period by severity, installed software versions.
Diagnosis and remedial action information
In many cases problem resolution requires a software application to be re-started. Subject to the site security policies remote application restart can be enabled allowing specialist off-site engineers to re-set a system. This is especially useful when shift engineers do not have the expertise required to deal with an issue.
Resilience and recovery from network problems
Because the log data is initially held locally a network services interruption does not result in lost information. This can be of particular value when equipment is disconnected as part of normal operation -for example equipment in an outside broadcast truck will report back on re-connection to a hub at base.
Secure, encrypted information transfer
A variety of security mechanisms ensure that Viz Secure logging and control data is not intercepted or interfered with. Clients wishing to have their systems accessible from the outside can employ conditional access to protect the integrity of their broadcast network. Passwords protect access to viewing and actions capability
Premium 3D GUI option
The 3D GUI option uses Viz Engine to display an interactive 3D model of the physical environment showing current equipment status, and providing engineers quicker tools to locate and repair systems. Drill-down access can include touch screen monitors. The GUI can also show images of equipment racks and the internal layout of the computers.
Premium reporting option – as-run information
The ability to report on actual on-air image and clip usage reduces the costs of reporting to external rights holders.
Easy to install and low system overhead
The hub runs on standard PC equipment (with optional failover safety duplication) and the monitoring access is via web browser (requires Vizrt plug-in for premium 3D GUI).
The small agent application on the target system takes its instruction from the hub regarding the system elements it monitors, sample frequency etc. It is designed to run at a low priority level and use minimal system resources.
Can operate as a slave application to other maintenance systems
Viz Secure can operate as an independent system, or as a slave to other monitoring systems
Scalable for simple and complex environments
Viz Secure is equally effective for small and large installations and scales easily with the addition of new nodes and applications
